Peter Smailes is the Vice-President, Finance & Operations at UBC. In addition to his responsibility leading finance, treasury, risk management services, and facilities, to name just a few, Peter is also the lead executive sponsor of the Integrated Renewal Program (IRP). The IRP will modernize and simplify processes and bring them into an intuitive integrated platform.

Peter took time to share his excitement for what the IRP represents for the future of UBC’s students, faculty and staff.

On April 25, UBC launched the first of three readiness surveys. It was a first important step to develop a baseline understanding of UBC’s capacity and willingness for change, and identify areas of potential resistance.

In April, we kicked off the countdown to April 1, 2020, when UBC would start using new HR and Finance processes supported by a new integrated system called Workday.

When the Integrated Renewal Program (IRP) kicked off in May 2018, we knew we’d started on an ambitious and important journey to transform how we work at UBC. The program team has been hard at work ensuring what is delivered meets UBCs needs well into the future.


Complete the Integrated Renewal Program Readiness Survey by May 15

UBC has embarked on a project to transform its HR, Finance and Student systems and processes — known as the Integrated Renewal Program (IRP).

With just a year to go until we implement the first phase, we are seeking your feedback through a change readiness survey. The survey, which focuses primarily on the April 2020 HR and Finance implementation, launched on April 25 and takes about 15 minutes to complete. All responses will be anonymized.
