Changes to existing UBC applications with the Launch of Workday Student

August 30, 2023

With the launch of Workday Student, there will be a number of changes to existing UBC ecosystem applications. To read detailed information on the global changes to some of the existing ecosystem applications, click here.

It is important to understand that while Workday Student will replace UBC’s Classic SIS, UBC requires an ecosystem approach as a holistic solution to ensure Workday Student meets all of UBC’s student administrative needs.

What is meant by an ecosystem approach?

Ultimately, the Workday system, a cloud-based platform, will be the anchor of our new student information system called Workday Student and will serve as the main platform for student administration. Workday will integrate with external systems that are still needed to conduct operations at UBC. This “ecosystem” of functions will be comprised of existing applications at UBC and the introduction of new “point-solutions” (which are newly created systems).

How were these changes identified?

The Integrated Renewal Program - Student (IRP Student) worked to identify IT applications and systems that will be impacted by the launch of Workday Student. Existing applications fall under four identified change categories: Retrofit, Integrate, No Change, and Sunset.

The searchable application inventory can be used to find out which category your application may fall under. For more information about the Ecosystem Delivery team, visit the Student Ecosystem page
