In preparation for this transition, it is important to ensure the UBC community is engaged, informed, and prepared. The Integrated Renewal Program – Student (IRP Student) has created Workday Student 101 – a multichannel resource providing you, our UBC community, with important information ahead of more in-depth and detailed activities like the Call-in Sessions and Training. This resource aims to provide you with basic knowledge around Workday Student, its differences from our current SIS, key terms, and more!

Welcome to Workday Student 101
Workday Student 101 is designed to support our community with the launch of the new system. This page provides easy access to all of the Workday Student 101 key landing pages.
This page provides a brief overview of Workday Student and explains what is meant when we refer to Workday Student as UBC’s renewed, reliable, and secure student information system.
IRP Student is comprised of numerous functional areas – following the student journey from application to graduation. With the renewal of our student information system, each area has unique requirements. To build on our community's foundational knowledge, a high-level overview of each functional area is provided on this page, including core concepts and high-level changes.
With the transition to Workday Student, you will be required to familiarize yourself with new terms. Also, current SIS terms may have new definitions or replacement terms that you will need to be aware of. This page has a searchable glossary to help you easily find what you are looking for, and is updated with new terminology on an ongoing basis. If you cannot find what you are looking for, please refer to the University Glossary for more university-wide terms.
UBC will be using Workday, a cloud-based platform, as the anchor of our new student information system. However, through discovery, we learned that the Workday product does not currently meet all of UBC’s student administrative needs. Therefore, IRP Student is working on additional systems and components – including altering current UBC applications – to integrate with Workday which will comprise the entire Workday Student system.
This page includes a searchable application inventory which you can use to find the current status of each UBC application and its role within Workday Student. Please note this list is subject to change, information will be refreshed on this page periodically as needed
IRP Student hosted multiple Workday Student 101 Sessions in November 2022 to provide high-level, foundational knowledge about Workday Student. If you were unable to attend a virtual session, we encourage you to watch *one of the recordings ahead of training to familiarize yourself with some of the core changes to come. *All Workday Student 101 sessions have the same content.
