Tuition and fee assessment issues are actively being corrected, and affected students may see changes to their account balance. See update on August 30 for groups of students who are currently impacted.
What is the Issue?
Students may see changes to their account balance as issues are resolved.
Who is Impacted?
Some students are impacted. We have now identified and communicated with the students affected by this issue. There are two groups:
- 575 students will have their fees corrected over the next couple of weeks. If the correction results in a fee increase, the additional amount will be due by October 7. If the correction results in a fee decrease, any credit will remain on the student’s account and be applied to future fees. They will not be charged interest or late payment fees in September 2024.
- 840 graduate students in Applied Science and Sauder have accounts under review, and corrections may need be made to their tuition assessments. More information to come.
These groups may also be affected by the outstanding balance issue, depending on when this issue is resolved. All students not in these groups can assume that their balance for 2024 Winter Term 1 is correct and should pay by the payment deadline they were given.
What is the impact?
If students fully paid their account balance before a correction is made, there may be an additional amount owing if the correction results in increased fees. If the correction results in decreased fees, the credit will remain on the student’s account to be applied toward future fees.
Corrected fees should align with tuition and fee rates indicated on the Academic Calendar in Vancouver and Okanagan. If there are any remaining issues after changes occur, staff can submit a Workday Student support request on the student’s behalf.
What is the status?
All registered students received an email on August 21 informing them of potential account balance changes. A follow-up communication was sent August 29.
