Outreach to UBC’s IT Community to Create Inventory of Current Applications and Systems

June 5, 2017

In anticipation for the selection of a new enterprise solution, work has been initiated to create an inventory of UBC’s current technology landscape of all existing enterprise and standalone applications, integrations and reporting tools used by faculties and units to manage administration across HR, Finance and Student.

This work has been ongoing over the past 12 months across all workstreams to ensure the Integrated Renewal Program has a complete understanding of UBC’s technology ecosystems. A deeper dive will be completed by early spring 2018 with outreach to faculties and units to confirm any major and minor systems/applications, Excel spreadsheets, Access databases, web applications, in-house built tools, and 3rd party applications maintained by external vendors. This inventory will be used by both functional and technical teams, in consultation with faculties and units, to determine which applications may be candidates for retirement in favour of functionality delivered by the new enterprise solution. More information will be provided in the spring of 2018.
