Resolved: Tuition is now being pro-rated (adjusted based on the time period) correctly for both scenarios listed below.
What is the Issue?
Two circumstances where this issue is occurring are:
- In Graduate programs, when a student completes the program before the end of the academic period, their tuition is not being prorated automatically overnight as intended.
- When staff drop a student from a course (without W) in Workday, Workday calculates tuition based on the drop date (pro-rating). In these cases, the tuition fee for the course should be removed entirely.
Who is Impacted?
- Graduate students who complete their program early.
- Students who were dropped without a W from a course after the add/drop deadline.
What is the impact?
-
Graduate students will not have their tuition prorated automatically based on their month of completion. If their balance was fully paid, students may not receive their tuition refund in a timely manner.
- Students who are dropped from a course without a W by a staff member in Workday after the add/drop deadline will see an inaccurate tuition balance. If their balance was fully paid, students may not receive their tuition refund in a timely manner.
What is the status?
We are investigating how to best address these issues, and will provide an update once we have made more progress on solutions.
Additional details:
In SISC, courses that should have tuition entirely removed would need to be backdated and dropped before the add/drop without W deadline. In Workday, a backdate is not used – only the drop date.
