A Look Back at 2017 Accomplishments
December 15, 2017As the year comes to a close, let’s take a look back on the work completed in 2017. Following an extensive collaborative solution process with Workday and student leaders and administrators across the institution, the Student workstream selected Workday in July to replace UBC’s Student Information System (SIS).
The HR and Finance workstreams spent the majority of the year gathering business requirements, completing fit-gap analysis, hosting a Workday demo week to understand the potential for Workday to replace UBC’s PeopleSoft FMS and HRMS.
With UBC’s due diligence complete, the Integrated Renewal Program received Board of Governors approval in December to proceed with negotiations with Workday as the core enterprise solution to replace HRMS, FMS and SIS. This was a massive effort, accomplished in a very short time, which involved hundreds of stakeholders across the institution who contributed feedback, insights and local knowledge to ensure Workday will meet the majority of UBC’s needs.
The Integrated Renewal Program delivery team invested time to consider scope, budget, resourcing requirements and timelines to receive Board of Governors approval in 2018. Planning and preparation for Phase 0 work which includes Vision Labs, Future State Readiness Workshops, Foundation Data Model and Technical Inventory completion was initiated, slated to begin in early 2018.
