Concurrent enrolment in Special Topics Courses in the same term on Saved Schedules

Concurrent enrolment in Special Topics Courses in the same term on Saved Schedules

June 07, 2024

Students cannot add more than 1 version/topic of the same Special Topics or Variable Credit courses to the same saved schedule.

What is the Issue?

Students cannot add more than 1 version/topic of the same Special Topics or Variable Credit courses to the same saved schedule. For example, when they add sections of COUR_V 500 A, they cannot add sections of COUR_V 500 B to their Term 1 saved schedule.

Who is Impacted?

Students registering for special topics courses and wanting to register in more than 1 topic in the same term.

What is the impact?

Students will have to use a workaround. Students can create a new saved schedule to add the additional Special Topics course to save for their registration time. When their registration appointment opens, they can register from both saved schedules, one after another, to complete their registration. Students are still able to register for multiple versions/topics of the same Special Topics course in the same term, provided they have not met the credit maximum for the course.

What is the status?

The workaround is ongoing. (An enhancement is required from Workday, not currently planned).
