Building our Workday Foundation

June 29, 2018

One of the major deliverables of the Integrated Renewal Program Plan stage is to begin building UBC’s Foundational Data Model (FDM). The FDM establishes the foundation for Workday transaction processing and reporting across HR, Finance, and Student domains. To achieve this milestone, workshops were conducted throughout May and June with key stakeholders and subject matter experts from across both campuses and the Integrated Renewal Program team. Using a collaborative approach, participants were led through a process of identifying requirements and understanding design impacts on the Workday system.

Through these sessions, Workday learned more about UBC’s current systems and processes while introducing the Workday product features to UBC stakeholders. Outcomes from the FDM workshops will help shape our Workday system, providing a solid cross-product foundation and preparing the Workday Foundation Tenant by mapping out key elements of human resource, finance and student data.

Participation, feedback and input from these sessions are essential for the work that will follow in the Architect and subsequent Program stages. The Integrated Renewal Program team looks forward to continuing these conversations as the university moves one step closer to bringing an improved work and student experience to the UBC community.
