A Summary

What's changing? 

  • The process to self-declare majors and minors will look different
  • Workday Student will introduce new terms for the steps in the pathway declaration process. E.g., to declare a primary major, a student or advisor would process the request via “Change Program of Study”
  • Workday Student introduces the ability to configure more complex program entry requirements
  • There will be a new centralized process called Continuing Graduate Student Onboarding that will allow us to ask graduate students if they are planning to come back

What’s staying the same? 

  • Students will still be able self-declare non-competitive majors/minors in the system
  • Advisors will retain their manual controls in Workday

Key Terms

  • Onboarding: The initial reach-out to continuing graduate students before the start of the next academic term to guide them to the resources they need and confirm their attendance
  • Add/Change/Remove Program of Study: The processes to declare, change, and drop pathways such as majors, minors, and specializations on a student's academic record
  • Matriculation: The process of moving students from Applicant to Student stage. Matriculation happens when an applicant accepts their offer of admission and pays their acceptance deposit (when applicable)
