Community Events

The Integrated Renewal Program – Student (IRP Student) hosts community events across both campuses to help UBC community members increase their understanding of the changes that will come with the launch of Workday Student. As events are scheduled, they are posted here for registration and announced to the community. Presentations and recordings from previous sessions are also available through the link below.
Dates, times, and topics of sessions may change based on demand. Check back regularly for updates.
Launch 1 of Workday Student took place on October 4, 2023. Launch 1 focuses on the systems that admit undergraduate students to UBC and prepare for the 2024 Winter session. Launch 2, in February 2024, will include capabilities that support students to study, advance, and graduate from UBC. The following resources can be used to familiarize yourself with Workday Student:
- Take the Workday Student Basics Course
- Connect with your Primary Transition Leads
- Understand ‘why’ UBC is moving to Workday Student
- Familiarize yourself with Workday Student vocabulary
- Watch Community Call-in Sessions Recordings
The Call-in Sessions are targeted community engagements providing a deeper dive into the functionality of the new student information system - Workday Student, highlighting the different functional areas, and details of changes, and allowing participants to ask questions. Register to attend these sessions to view the Workday Student design, build functional knowledge of Workday Student, and increase your understanding of change impacts on your work. More sessions will be posted as they become available.
Waitlist are potentially the largest change we see to registration in Workday Student. Waitlists in Workday are connected directly to the course section, with functionality that allows the system to handle waitlist promotion. Information provided in this call-in will include the differences between expiration methods and manual management of waitlists. We will also discuss the uses for automated waitlist promotion and manual waitlist management to enable academic units to prepare for administering and using waitlists with the option that best fits their needs.
Date: December 8, 2023
Time: 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Recommended for:
This foundational call-in is recommended for all staff who are involved or interested in student registration in waitlisted or potentially waitlisted courses and is designed to ensure that the community has the basic understanding of waitlists that they need to make decisions on how to configure their waitlists at the course section level.
