Student Completion Approved

In the past few years, the Integrated Renewal Program – Student (IRP Student) has been working towards launching Workday Student, delivering a renewed, reliable, and secure student information system as the foundation to support UBC’s Academic mission. Launch 1 was successfully completed in October 2023 and Launch 2 is on track for February 2024. By fall 2024, the entire new student information system will be launched. From there, the focus will be on sustainment and continuous improvement of Workday Student, so it is optimized to grow with UBC for years to come. 

Lessons learned from IRP Release 1 (HR and Finance) indicated that a follow-on phase will be required for Student. Given the program is tracking on schedule, the team wanted to be proactive in addressing the need for a Student Completion project. A plan was developed, and brought through IRP Student governance, receiving unanimous approval from the IRP Student Steering Committee and Executive Sponsors. The team also sought endorsement from the IT Advisory Council and the Finance Committee of the Board of Governors. We are pleased to announce that the UBC Board of Governors has approved funding for the Student Completion project.  

Student Completion will focus on improvements in how we support the Academic mission of the university and continue to deliver a high-quality, modern educational experience for students - from application to graduation. 

WHAT IS COMING NEXT?  

IRP Student remains focused on the successful Launch 2 of Workday Student on February 26, 2024. Throughout all stages of the development, the UBC community has continued to provide feedback and input for the new system and its integrations. IRP Student recognizes how much the community is doing to move us forward towards the final implementation of the system and beyond. ​​
