Issues affecting Course Section Roster

July 24, 2024

Student photos in the Course Section roster in Workday cannot be downloaded/exported into other formats, student numbers are available but not in a separate column view and Class Standing information is not available.

What is the Issue?

Student photos in the Course Section Roster are only available in the PDF view. Photos cannot be downloaded or exported into other formats. This is a known limitation of Workday. Additionally, the Course Section Roster does not include the Class Standing (year level) for the student. This report is delivered by Workday and cannot be modified.

Who is Impacted?

Faculty, instructors and staff using student photos for class lists, identification purposes and other supporting tasks.

What is the impact?

Photos – There is currently no workaround. Photos are only available in the PDF view.

Student ID – The Course Roster includes student numbers alongside student names. For a different format you can download the student numbers from the Final Grade Submission Tool, which will place the Student ID in a separate, unique column.

Class Standing Information – There is currently no workaround to display this information with student photos. Class Standing information can be found in a report provided by a department administrator (Course Section Roster with Grades report). Instructors cannot run the Course Section Roster with Grades report.

What is the status?

The issues with the Course Section Roster are known and the IRP teams are currently exploring solutions with Workday. The timeline for resolution is currently being determined.  Updates will be provided here as available.
