A Snapshot

A Summary

What’s changing?

  • In Workday, only 15 pre-configured instructional formats options are available
  • Tutorial will be discontinued and Discussion will be used in its place
  • Course section notes include fields for private and public notes and can be rich-text formatted
  • Waitlists will be set up at the course section level and not in Scientia
  • Course Section Clusters comprise a set of related courses and/or course sections in Workday Student that must be enrolled in together during registration. Courses and/or course sections can only be used in one course cluster. Depending on a unit's need, they can group together:
    Sections of a single course
    Sections of multiple courses
    Different courses
    Both course sections and courses

Key Term

  • Instructional Format: The instructional format defines the delivery format of a course (e.g. lecture, lab, seminar, tutorial). A course must have at least one instructional format but can have more than one; however, only one instructional format can be graded. This is different from the delivery mode of a course
